"Hey, get moving! The buses will be here any second!"

The teacher yelled at the students, trying to get all of them to hurry into their groups to board the school buses in the parking lot. The students were mostly huddled into groups, talking loudly and generally fooling around. Three girls huddled together, talking about the museum they'd just exited.

"The art exhibit was pretty cool," one of them said.

"I dunno about the volcano thing though. It seemed kind of boring compared to the one the science museum has," another added.

"Yeah," the last girl agreed. She looked around as her two friends continued talking, and noticed another girl, all alone, off by herself under a tree, looking at the camera in her hands.

"What the heck is Julia doing?" the first girl asked.

The third girl shrugged. "I dunno. Taking pictures?"

The second girl sighed. "I feel kind of bad for her, you know? I don't think she has any friends."

"Yeah, I've never seen her with anyone," the first girl agreed, "It's kind of sad, actually."

"Maybe we should talk to her," the third girl suggested, "She's probably just shy. I bet she secretly wants someone to go over and notice her."

"Yeah," the second girl agreed, "She's kind of unpopular because she's so antisocial. She probably just has trouble with talking to people. I bet if we talked to her it'd make her feel way better!"

All in agreement, the three girls approached. "Hey, Julie—"

"Go away."

Julia turned her head, glaring at them, and the three of them stopped dead in their tracks.

"Uh… wow," the first girl said, feeling offended, "Geez Julia, what'd we ever do to you?"

Julia narrowed her gaze. "For one, you gossip about me, and within earshot no less! Don't assume I'm too shy to make friends. Maybe I just don't want to talk to anyone here!"

"We're just trying to help!" the second girl lashed out, "You don't need to be so rude!"

"Yeah," the third girl added, "Don't you want to talk with people for once?"

"I don't want your pity, or your rude comments!" Julie growled, "I communicate with others just fine, thank you!" She shoved her camera back into her pocket and stormed off, disappearing into the crowd of high school students.

The three girls looked at each other and sighed.

. . . . . .

You are now . . .

[ image link ] Hey everyone, Jewel here~ So today I visited a local museum with my class. Outside the museum there were a bunch of ladybugs on the flowers outside, and here's a picture! I can't believe I was the only one who noticed… I think everyone else was too busy with gossiping about stuff to notice. It's such a shame, right?

Julia leaned back in her chair and stretched out her arms; yet another successful post!

She shook her head to herself, thinking of her earlier "conversation" as she closed her laptop. Those girls really needed to learn the difference between being too shy and wanting some peace and quiet.
Written for my final project book for Fiction Writing class.

This is the first time I've written flash fiction and have been able to stop myself at 2 pages... >.<;; I have the bad habit of going on and on and on...

I actually spent the least about of time on this one. >.<;; It was inspired by some of the internet blogs I follow, and also the manga Koko ni iru yo! (I am Here!) by Ema Toyama.
